America for Christ Offering. Seek Justice is the theme for the 2014 America for Christ Offering. With an America for Christ donation, you join with the American Baptist Home Mission Societies in building communities of justice and hope across the United States and Puerto Rico through the transformational love of Jesus Christ. Informational flyers and envelopes are inserted in today’s bulletin. Our Goal is $750.
To date we have received $115 towards our goal.
See Moses Part the Red Sea. Faith United Church of Christ is organizing a two-day trip to Lancaster, PA to see the Sign & Sound Theater Experience of “Moses.” The trip is planned for July 18th -19th, 2014. The pink flyer in this week’s bulletin has all the specifics. Participants must fill out the trip insurance form, which we have available in the office. ABW News. The March meeting of the ABW has been cancelled. The next meeting will be April 8th at St. John the Baptist Church, 184 Goodell Street, Buffalo.
Red Blazer Varieties. The annual Red Blazer Varieties, presented by the Red blazer Men’s Chorus will take place on April 4th at 7:30 pm and April 5th at 2:00 and 7:30 pm at Amherst Central High school, 4301 Main Street, Snyder. ABW Convention. American Baptist Women’s Ministries convention will take place on April 25th -27th at the Desmond Hotel & Conference Center in Albany. The theme of the convention is A Time to Serve. More information and registration forms are in the church office.
Soup for the Soul. The Ken-Ton Clergy Association will be sponsoring Soup for the Soul, which will take place at Deerhurst Presbyterian Church, 257 Deerhurst Park Blvd., Kenmore, every Tuesday during Lent from March 11th to April 8th. A simple soup meal will be served at noon, followed by The Jesus Creed: Meditations on the two great commandments for the season of Lent. All are welcome.
Pancake breakfast with theme baskets. Redeemer Lutheran Church, 265 Falconer Street, North Tonawanda, will have a buffet-style pancake breakfast with theme baskets on Saturday March 22nd from 8:00 -11:30 am. Adults $8, children 6-12 $4, 5 and younger free. Basket drawing begins at 11:30. For reservations call 692-5734.
Buy a light fixture. You can help our church save an estimated $58 per month on our electric bill by buying a light fixture for the building. National Grid has a program where they will pay 58% of the cost of replacing our old light fixtures with new energy-efficient ones. The total cost will be $5,025, with National Grid paying $2,906 and the church paying $2,118. However, National Grid will give an additional 15% discount to us if we pay a lump sum payment of $1,800. The cost of each fixture, which includes new T-8 energy-efficient light bulbs, would be $32 each. Help the church by buying one or more fixtures by May 1st. For more information, see Bob Zeeb.
Fish Fry Fridays. Enjoy a fried fish, breaded shrimp, or baked fish dinner, on Fridays March 14, 21, 28; April 4 and 11 from 4:00-7:00 pm at St. Gregory the Great School gym, 250 St. Gregory Court, Williamsville. Included with the dinners are French fries, coleslaw, roll, homemade dessert and beverage. Rice and green beans are included with baked fish dinner. Cheese pizza is also available at $1 slice. Summer camp. If you are interested in having your child attend camp this summer at Camp Vick or Pathfinder Lodge, we have received a packet of information that is available in the church office.
Chapel Chimes deadline. The deadline for articles for the April/May Chapel Chimes is this Friday March 14th.
Share the passion and death of Jesus. Passion, a living Stations of the Cross will take place on Main Street in Newfane on April 13th at 2:00 pm.
St. Pauly update. We received a check for $40.21 for donation to the St. Pauly shed in February.
